About FR's Faith Roots Section

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son... (Hebrews 1:1-2 ESV)

God's revelation of His character and His love for us began long before Calvary. The death, burial and resurrection of Christ was the consummation of what He began in the Garden of Eden and continued through His covenants with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants. Through Moses and the prophets, He showed us more of who He is and how He expects us to live. Some people dismiss God's works and ways prior to the Advent of the Messiah, saying, "Well, that's Old Testament." My reply? "That's my God!"

How do we fully understand the depths of sin without knowing God is more holy than the holiest holiness? (Isaiah 6:3 CJB) How do we understand a loving Creator sending His Son to redeem His creation, if we don't know that in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1 KJV)? How do we really know He keeps his promises without the testimony of those who knew Him as the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations? (Deuteronomy 7:9 KJV)

God's revelation of Himself to human beings continues to unfold. He isn't done with us yet - hallelujah! Looking back to see the faithfulness, holiness, love, mercy, wrath and justice of God as revealed in His dealings with humans from the beginning is vital to beginning to understand who He is and how so very much He desires to have relationship with us through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

God never said, "The gospels and epistles are all you need to live an obedient and fulfilled Christian life." The gospels and epistles are laid upon the foundation God set many years before and are, in many ways, the fulfillment of that which came before. The apostle Paul said, I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God (Acts 20:27 KJV). God moved upon men of old to write the truths He chose, in His wisdom and great love, to declare unto us, from the in the beginning of Genesis 1 to the Amen at the end of Revelation (22:21).

All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truthconvicting of sincorrecting faults and training in right living  (2 Timothy 3:16 CJB).
