In God We Trust?

Daily Selah is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.]

U.S. money has an interesting feature which, as far as I know, is unique in all the world. Our money declares, "In God we trust."

Have you ever thought about that? It should be a good reminder who the Source of all we have is.

Sadly, many Americans trust more in the dollar than they do in God.

No matter how good a job you have or how much money you've managed to put in the bank, God alone is the Source of it all. Whatever we have - home, job, money, cars - it will all some day rot away.

Are we going to treasure things that will someday be worthless or treasure those things that have true and eternal value? Which treasure is your heart set upon?

Are we more concerned about getting closer to our financial goals or is getting closer to God of more value?

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. -Matthew 6:19-21

Father, thank You for providing all our needs. Help us to trust in You alone for every need of our hearts and lives. Bring us closer to Your heart so we will treasure You and Your ways above all else. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.
