All We Need

{Daily Selah}

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. (1 Corinthians 1:9 ESV)

In the spring of 2013, I took a trip to Georgia. As I waited for my flight at O'Hare Airport in Chicago, I was impressed by the fact that some of the amenities provided had improved greatly  since I had last been there. In the women's restroom, for example, there was a device that placed a fresh cover on the seat each time someone entered the stall. Every business that has public restrooms should consider investing in such a device. Clean and sanitary facilities make every female happy and more likely to come back.

When we travel, many of the arrangements are taken care of for us. We buy our tickets and don't have to worry about who is going to serve the food on the flight or how to get our baggage from point A to point B or who is going to put fuel in the plane. Someone else worries about the details for us.

In yesterday's {Daily Selah}, So, where are you going? we looked at the journey of the Christian life. Not only did God take care of all the preparation needed for this journey (He gave us His Son), He has also packed our bags for us. Take a look:

I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge— even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among you— so that you are not lacking in any gift, as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ,  who will sustain you to the endguiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus ChristGod is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.  (1 Corinthians 1:4-9 ESV)

How has God supplied us for the journey?

  • He showed us grace in Christ
  • We are enriched in Him
  • He has given us knowledge
  • the testimony of Christ is confirmed in us
  • We lack no gift
  • He sustains us
  • He is faithful to us

2 Peter 1:3 sums up this preparation and provision God has supplied for us.

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence (ESV).

I'm so thankful God doesn't simply give us grace through Christ to start us on the way, then say, "OK. There you go. Get on with it."

Our God is faithful and He doesn't do things half way. His works are always complete and perfected.

He has given us ALL WE NEED, now its up to us to make use of it.

Father, thank You so much for giving us all we need to live lives pleasing to You. Help us to walk in the light of Your truth and follow Your ways. In Jesus' Name, amen.
