Called to Be Different

{Daily Selah}

My siblings, friends and children might tell you that I've always been a little "different" :)

But this morning, let's look at a different kind of "different."

Did you know that as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are supposed to be different?

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)

We are called to be transformed, not conformed to the ways of the world. We are called to be salt and light and to be witnesses and ambassadors for Christ.  We are in this world, but not of this world. We're not supposed to look like the rest of the world, nor are we supposed to do the things the world does.

That's what His promise in Philippians 1:6 to continue His work in us is all about - making us more and more like Jesus and less and less like the world.

If there is no visible difference between you and the world, depend upon it there is no invisible difference. - Charles Spurgeon

Father, I ask that You would continue to do Your work in our hearts and lives to make us more and more different - less and less like this world and more and more like Jesus, I pray. In His precious Name, amen.

Daily Selah is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.
