Follow the Shepherd

{Daily Selah}

David, the writer of the 23rd psalm, knew all about sheep. He grew up tending his father's flocks, protecting them and providing for them.

In Psalm 23, he says, "The LORD is my shepherd." That simple statement reveals a lot about David's relationship with the Lord.

A sheep knows the shepherd's voice and follows him. Sheep trust the shepherd to bring them to safe pasture and meet all their needs.

Psalm 23 tells us we can trust the LORD, our Shepherd, in the same way. Take a look...

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Where The Shepherd leads, we should follow. He will never lead us astray, He is on our side, He fights for us, provides for us, shelters us, blesses us, restores us, and loves us.

Follow The Shepherd.

{Daily Selah} is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.
