And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.-Revelation 19:11-12
Many of us know the old hymn, Crown him with Many Crowns and may have sung it many times in church without even really thinking about it. That hymn may have been based on Revelation 19, where we are told that one day Jesus will return to the earth and will be wearing not one crown, but many crowns.
A crown signifies the authority and power of the one who wears it. Not only did Jesus create us, He also gave his blood to purchase us and our redemption. We belong to Him. He is King of kings and Lord of lords. When we sing, Crown him with Many Crowns, what we really saying is, "Set Him on high; give Him His rightful position over all - including me."
Are you crowning Him with many crowns, over every area of your life?
Or, are you trying to take His authority by trying to run your life your way?
Crown Him with many crowns.
