His Riches in Glory

{Daily Selah}

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).

We often quote this verse and even sing songs about God's promises to take care of us and meet all our needs.

God promises to supply all your need. The question is, do we really believe it? Do we believe He will take care of our parents as they reach the "golden years"? Do we believe He will meet our financial needs? Do we believe He will shine the light of His presence into the darkest, loneliest places of our hearts?

Before you answer that, let's pause and think about His riches in glory for a moment.

God's power knows no limits. The same God who spoke the universe into existence has the power to speak into your life and mine. His resources know no limits. Psalm 50 tells us that not only does God own the cattle on a thousand hills, the earth and all that is therein also belongs to Him (v 10,12).  Everything here on the earth and everything in heaven above belongs to our God.

Our God always does what He says He will do. He has promised to meet my needs. He will. He has promised to meet your needs. He will.

Why would the God of the universe take the time to take care of you and me?

The last 3 words of Philippians 4:19 provide the answer: by Christ Jesus.

If you ever wonder who you are, and why God loves you so much, check out Ephesians 1 and 2. Because Christ shed His blood, all those who trust in Him for salvation have been made acceptable in God's sight. But, God didn't stop there. He adopted us! He claims us as His own dear children! As a loving Father, He enjoys showing us His love, He enjoys meeting our needs and He enjoys spending time with us.

God will always keep His promises to us because He loves us. And, because He loves us, He uses His riches in glory by Christ Jesus to meet our every need.

His riches in glory.

{Daily Selah} is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.
