Got Questions?

Daily Selah is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.

If you're anything like me, you want answers. As I shared with a friend recently, God gave me an analytical mind. I have this deep need to know the why, the wherefore and the hitherto. That's not always a good thing, but sometimes, it's a very good thing to try to get answers.

In 2006, I was diagnosed with a widespread recurrence of thyroid cancer. Unlike the first time around, I had a computer and internet access, which meant I was able to research treatment options and went to my doctor armed with many questions.

Not only did I have questions for those providing treatment, I also had many questions for the Lord during that time. At first, my 2 biggest questions were, "Why, Lord?" and "Father, what about my children?"

It is okay to ask questions of God. It is not acceptable to Him when we question His authority, but asking, "Why?" or "When?" is not wrong. He wants us to share our hearts with Him. He knows what's in our heart and mind anyway. We can't hide it from Him, so we might as well be honest with Him.

Whatever question is on your heart right now, be assured He has the answer and He will give it to you when He knows the time is right. I know, you probably want an answer yesterday but God's timing is much better than ours. Just remember, He promised you that if you call upon Him, He WILL answer.

Got questions? God has answers.

Father, I'm so grateful that you know our needs and the cry of our hearts before we even know them ourselves. Thank You for being the Only God who is real and present. Thank You for loving us so much and thank You for being there, wanting to hear us tell You of the desires of our hearts. Thank You for being willing to hear our questions and to give us answers. Help us to wait on You for the answers we need; help us to trust You; to hope in You; to rest in You and to glorify Your high and holy Name. In Jesus' wonderful Name, Amen.
