Paul's prayer for his fellow believers was that they would love more.
1 John 4:8 tells us God is love. God Himself is the ultimate expression of love.
He loves us completely and unconditionally and proved it by sending His own Son for us.
How much then does He expect us to love? More and more, according to Philippians 1:9.
1 John 4:8 also says that the love we have for one another is proof of our love for God:
He that loveth not knoweth not God;
for God is love.
The kind of love God requires we have for one another is defined for us in 1 Corinthians 13. The bottom line is, putting God and others first.
Love more.
Father, thank You for loving us so much that You gave Your only Son for our redemption. Help us to love like You love. And help us to proclaim Your love to the world by loving more. In Jesus' Name I pray, Amen.
