Our lives get so busy, don't they?
Work, family, appointments, obligations, places to go, people to see...
Some days just seem to run together like waves in the ocean of our busy lives.
We rush from one thing to the next and at the end of the day, collapse into bed and wonder if the next day will be the same.
No matter how busy life may be, we need make time to take a break.
In Mark chapter 6, we find some weary disciples. Many people had been coming and going, pressing in to see Jesus, and the 12 were simply worn out.
And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat (Mark 6:31).
Need a break? Need to rest from all the busy-ness of life? A dream vacation isn't the best answer. The best place to go is a quiet place alone with Jesus.
He says, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).
Remember Martha and Mary? While Martha was rushing about in the kitchen, Mary took a needed break, finding refreshment for her soul at Jesus' feet (see Luke 10:38-42).
Take a break. Spend some time with Jesus. You'll be glad you did.
Father, thank You for sending Your Son for us. Thank You that in Him we find rest. Remind us, Father, to take a break to spend time at His feet to find refreshment for our souls, like Mary did. In Jesus' wonderful Name, amen.
{Daily Selah} is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord & how He wants us to live.
