~Focus for the month of June 2014: FAITH~

Morning Selah @ FR for today...

He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief;
but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that,
what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

-Romans 4:20:21

When God promised a son, He was pleased with Abraham's response. 

God has proven His faithfulness to us and His faithfulness to His Word over and over again. He has never broken a promise and never will. 

Because of who He is, we can glorify God with a strong faith, fully persuaded that what He has promised, He is able to perform. 

Our God says what He means and means what He says. Trust Him. He will never fail you.

~Focus for the month of June 2014: FAITH~

Morning Selah @ FR for today...

But to him that worketh not, 

but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, 

his faith is counted for righteousness.

-Romans 4:5

Do you notice in this verse that faith is equated with righteousness? 

Those who believe what God says will do what He says. 

Written in 1887, this old song sums it up nicely:

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
   What a glory He sheds on our way!
   While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
   And with all who will trust and obey.
   • Refrain:
     Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
     To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

When you ask the Lord to help you with something, do you believe He is able? 

Declare your faith today.

So Daniel was taken up out of the den, 

and no manner of hurt was found upon him, 

because he believed in his God.

Did you notice why it was that Daniel was saved from harm? Because of his faith. 

You and I serve the same God who shuts the mouths of lions. Just think about that!

He will preserve and protect us too if we will just trust Him.

[Perhaps we should call this the Afternoon Selah @ FR today. My apologies. The internet went out here last night and was restored just a little while ago.]


Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. - Proverbs 3:5-6




God wants us to have total faith in Him, trusting Him with our whole heart. He doesn't want us to try to solve our problems on our own. He is a loving Father who wants what's best for His children. That's why He will direct our paths if we allow Him to.



Let Him guide your steps today and give Him your trust. He won't let go and He will never fail you.

Morning Selah @ FR for today...

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world:
and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. -1 John 5:4

Do you notice how, in this verse, faith is equated with victory?

If we are wallowing in the mire of doubt and worry, there is no victory.

But, when we take God as His Word, when we believe His promises to us and have that calm assurance in our hearts that He is in control, that's when we develop a mountain-moving, victorious faith. 

Ask the Lord to increase your faith today so you can walk in greater victory.

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? -Matthew 6:28-30

Why do we worry?

God knows all about what we need and has promised to provide for all of our needs "according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19). 

Is God bigger than my needs? Is He bigger than your needs? 

When I was a little girl in Sunday School, I remember singing, "My God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot do." 

Father, help us to have bigger faith in You, our God who is bigger and mightier than everything we face.

Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? (John 16:31)

Good question. What do you believe about Jesus? 

Jesus came to earth to pay the price for the sins of the whole world because He loves us so much. He died on the cross for us and came back to life 3 days later and is in heaven now, making intercession with the Father on our behalf. 

Think about all He has done for you. 

Make a list of all Jesus has done for you and add to that list what the Bible says about Him. You'll be amazed how much reminding yourself of these things can increase your faith and your love for Him. Then ask yourself, "Do ye now believe?"

Morning Selah @ FR for today...

The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. (2 Samuel 22:3)

No matter what life throws at you, God is your Rock (unshakeable and immovable), He is your shield (protecting you from the fiery darts of the enemy), and He is your refuge (your place of safety and shelter).

Declare your trust in Him today.

Father, thank You for being my Rock, my shield and my refuge. Thank you that because of Jesus I can always come to You no matter how great or small my concerns. Thank You for hearing the cries of my heart and thank You for loving me. In Jesus' wonderful Name, Amen.

Morning Selah @ FR for today...

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (Romans 1:16-17)


Those of us who have believed in the power of the gospel, who have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, are supposed to live by faith because it reveals God's righteousness both in us and through us.

What does it mean to live by faith? I think it means 2 things. 

First, to live in a manner worthy of the faith God has placed in our hearts.

Second, to live in an attitude of calm assurance that God is in control and will always do what's best for us because He loves us so very much. 

The just shall live by faith. 

Let's ask the LORD today to increase our faith and our faithfulness to live in a manner worthy of the faith He has placed within us.

Morning Selah @ FR for today...

For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth

And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: 

Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold (Job 19:25-27)

What an amazing declaration of faith from Job. Jesus had not yet come to earth to die for the sins of the world, yet Job was fully assured of his final home. 

No matter what happens in this world, believers in the Lord Jesus Christ have the assurance that our Redeemer lives and we shall see Him face to face. 

Rejoice in that glorious truth today.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him... – Psalm 37:7

What's on your mind today?  The verse selected for today doesn't talk directly about faith, but how can we rest in the LORD without trusting that He is there, He hears and He takes care of those who love Him? 

We can wait patiently for an answer or provision from His hand because He has given us the assurance that He loves us and will supply all our needs (Philippians 4:19). 

Believe His Word to you today and rest in God's goodness.

Morning Selah @ FR for today...

Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us. - Psalm 123:2

Just as a servant would look to their master for provision, we also need to wait on the LORD and trust Him to provide all we need.

Whether that need is personal, financial, relational or anything else, God has promised to provide all we need.

Look to Him and believe Him for His merciful provision, from your loving Father's hand to yours.

The LORD repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge! -Ruth 2:12

Those words were spoken by Boaz to Ruth when he learned of her new found faith and of how she had so faithfully taken care of her mother-in-law. 

Ruth took refuge under the wings of the LORD. She rested in His love, HIs provision, and His grace toward her.

Ruth faced many trials, like we all do. But she chose to take refuge under the wings of the LORD. She rested in His love, HIs provision, and His grace toward her. 

Are you trusting and resting in His love today?
