--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Selah is a Hebrew word, meaning a pause to ponderMorning Selah @ FR is a mini-devotional, giving us reason to pause and ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.

~Focus for the month of June 2014: FAITH~

Morning Selah @ FR for today...

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world:
and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. -1 John 5:4

Do you notice how, in this verse, faith is equated with victory?

If we are wallowing in the mire of doubt and worry, there is no victory.

But, when we take God as His Word, when we believe His promises to us and have that calm assurance in our hearts that He is in control, that's when we develop a mountain-moving, victorious faith.

Ask the Lord to increase your faith today so you can walk in greater victory.

Morning Selah @ FR for today...

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? -Matthew 6:28-30
Why do we worry?

God knows all about what we need and has promised to provide for all of our needs "according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).

Is God bigger than my needs? Is He bigger than your needs?

When I was a little girl in Sunday School, I remember singing, "My God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot do."

Father, help us to have bigger faith in You, our God who is bigger and mightier than everything we face.

The River that Runs Through the Holy Habitation of the Most High

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High... -Psalm 46:4

Jerusalem is where Jesus will reign in the millennial kingdom, and the Jordan river flows near Jerusalem, but I don't think the writer of Psalm 46 was thinking of either that river or that city.

Bearing in mind that many Psalms are prophetic, there is only one river I know of mentioned in Scripture that would make glad the holy habitation of the Most HIgh, and it flows through Revelation 22...

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city...

The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. -Revelation 22:1,17

This living water was also spoken of by the prophet Isaiah and by Jesus.

Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. -Isaiah 12:3

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. -John 7:38

Referring of the body of Christ, Ephesians 2:21-22 says, the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

If you know Christ as your Savior, the Holy Spirit lives within you, making you the holy habitation of the Most High.

So given the other passages we've looked at, let's think again about the river whose streams make glad the city of God.

The river of life flows through believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, those who have been builded together for an habitation of God by the Spirit.

Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of our God and I will rejoice be glad...
