Living the Word

Daily Selah is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. -Deuteronomy 6:4-7

This passage reminds us that our hearts are where it's at. No matter how good we look on the outside, or how "put together" we try to appear to others, God wants our hearts, not the outward appearance.

We are told to love Him with our whole heart and to keep His Word in our hearts. The only way to keep His Word in our hearts is to be in it often and to speak it often. As we teach His Word and His ways to the next generation, we are reaffirming its truth not just to them but also to our own hearts. Think about that.

  • The more we saturate ourselves in His Word, the more we will desire God's presence.
  • And, the more we soak in God's presence, the more we will desire His Word.
