Proclaim the Power of the Cross

{Daily Selah}

For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God (1 Corinthians 1:18).

...the Gospel is the power of God in the esteem of the saints, who know it to be so by inward experience; they have felt the power of it on their hearts; it has wrought effectually in them, and therefore they are the best judges, and are capable of giving the best account of it. -John Gill, commentary on 1 Corinthians 1:18.

The preaching of the cross releases the power of God to change lives. As those whose lives have been changed by the power of the preaching of the cross, you and I are the best representatives of it. The testimony of a life changed by the cross of Christ is far more effective in reaching hearts than anything ever written by even the greatest of theologians.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us (2 Corinthians 4:17).

God has entrusted us with the treasure of the gospel, the good news of the power of Christ's finished work on the cross on our behalf and that of the whole world. We're not supposed to hoard this great treasure but are required to share it as ambassadors for Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Proclaim the power of the cross.

 {Daily Selah} is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.
