Rest in Jesus

{Daily Selah}

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls (Matthew 11:29).

Do you ever feel like you could use a rest, a break away from all the stresses of daily life?

Very often, when we think of "rest," our thoughts turn toward heaven. I am looking forward to that day when we will see Jesus face to face.

We tend to forget that Jesus also wants us to find rest in Him right here and now.

"Take my yoke upon you" means giving ourselves and our circumstances over to Him, submitting to His authority over every aspect of our lives.

When we are in turmoil as believers, it is often because we have not given some area over to Him.

Rest for our souls can only come as we recognize He is in control and has the right as our Savior, Master and Lord to lead and guide our lives and to teach us His ways. He doesn't want us to simply say, "Yes, Lord, my life is yours." We are required to live as though our lives are not our own.

When we yield ourselves to Him, Jesus brings peace, comfort and strength that we can find nowhere else.

Need a rest? Rest in Jesus.
