Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. -Psalm 25:4
Show Me Your Ways
When my oldest son was 3, he came to me one day with the local newspaper in his hand, saying, "Mama, read it." The front page had a large picture of a new firetruck the city had recently purchased. So we sat on the couch and I began to read to him. He protested, "No, Mama, I read it. You show me so I read it." I didn't think he was ready to learn to read at 3, but he continued to ask, "Mama, show me so I read it. Pleeese, Mama."
My son learned to read at 3 years old because he was determined learn. David, in the verse we read above, was determined to learn God's ways. Because David wanted to know the Lord and His ways, God taught Him:
The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him;
and he will shew them his covenant. -Psalm 25:14
It pleases God when we want to know God and His ways, and He draws near to teach our hearts to know Him and follow His ways.
Lord, we want to know You and Your Word. Show us Your ways, O Lord and teach us Your paths so we may live for You and for your glory. In Jesus Name, Amen.
