Daily Selah ~ Transformed

Daily Selah is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. -Romans 12:2

I read an article a few days ago which spoke of a desire for “transformative spiritual experience.” This desire had led the author to attempt to incorporate Eastern meditation, among other things, into her form of Christianity.

The Bible describes the only truly transformative spiritual experience. Those who have been born again have passed from death to life, have been transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light, have been redeemed, and have become a new creation in Christ.

We are to continue to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, not by opening our minds to things of the world that are clearly contrary to the commandments of God. We renew our minds through the Word of God. The ONLY form of meditation found in the Bible is that of meditating on the Word, allowing it to become part of us.

The blessed man described in Psalm 1:2 knew this and delighted in God's Word and meditated upon it day and night. The Word of God has the answer for every need, every situation, every desire of our hearts. Living it out as we allow it to live in our deepest being transforms our hearts and minds so we can draw closer to God and the blessings of unbroken fellowship with Him.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. -Romans 12:2

Father, thank You for giving us Your Word to teach us how to know You and live for You. Continue to transform us and make us more like Jesus as we renew our minds with Your Word. Be glorified through our lives, I pray. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
