Forever the Same ~ Daily Selah

Daily Selah is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. -Hebrews 13:8

Forever the Same

Growing up with 3 brothers, I was somewhat of a tomboy and had a very short fuse. On a warm summer afternoon when I was 7, Bart, a 14-year old neighbor kid, came into our yard to throw around a football with my older brother. I watched them play for a while, then my mother brought us some lemonade.

Then, Bart decided it would be funny to pull my pig tails. My mother was watching from the back porch and warned him that I would not tolerate that for very long. The first time he did it, I gave him a dirty look. The second time, I hollered, "Hey, quit that!" Bart made the mistake of pulling my hair a third time. Well, then he had to pull his bleeding lips off his front teeth.

I am very thankful that the Lord changed me from that feisty child into someone more caring and patient.

Jesus has never needed to change and will not ever change. He has always been perfect and right in all He does. He is the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

The love Jesus has for us will not change. He will not change His mind about you and me. He has promised to never leave us. That will never change because He will never change. Jesus has promised to provide all we need. That will never change because He will never change. He has promised to prepare a home for us in heaven. That will never change because He will never change.

Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. No matter what we do, no matter how much we might need to change, He will never change. He can and will change me because He will never change. He will always be there right beside us, loving us and meeting our needs and will never, ever change.
