Should we Tweet the Gospel?

I read an interesting article this morning regarding the whether or not Twitter should be used as a platform for sharing the gospel.

Some people do use Twitter to share the truth.

Here are a just  a few examples that came up in my Twitter feed this morning:

Proverbs and Maxims ‏@ao_proverbs
God has taught you to love one another -- 1 Thessalonians 4:9

Bible Scripture ‏@Scripture_Truth
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. -John 3:17

All About Jesus ‏@All_About_Jesus 10m
The Son of man has authority to forgive sins on earth. -Matthew 9:6 (please retweet).

I personally have used Twitter to post many things. Here are a few recent Tweets from @FaithReviewed:

Faith Reviewed @FaithReviewed
The Lord is my portion;
I promise to keep your words.
Psalm 119:57 ESV

Faith Reviewed @FaithReviewed
Lots of issues trending on Twitter lately... Israel, ObamaCare, etc
Let's look at it all differently & tweet or RT this:

The blood of Christ granted us access to the throne of grace. Something on your mind? Pray & get mercy & grace to help you thru it (Heb 4:16)

Just a few thoughts about Twitter...

1. The space allotted for a Tweet is only 140 characters. If you're not familiar with Twitter, that may sound like a lot, but it really isn't.  The last Tweet I shared above, referencing Hebrews 4:16, is right at that limit.

2. Depending upon how many people follow your account, and how many people they are following, many of your posts may just be overlooked or completely missed.

3. This verse has been on my mind all day: 1 Peter 3:15 says, But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

I would love to hear from you and would really appreciate your input on this topic.
