The Sweetest Name

We often speak of the power of Jesus' Name, and there is definitely power in the Name of Jesus.

 His Name is also the Name above all names, the Name the Father gave Him and the ONLY Name by which we can be saved.


Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11 ESV


What comes to mind when you hear His Name?

Do you first think of His power? His glory? Or, His love?

The Name of Jesus represents all these things just as He does Himself. 

I can't think of any name I love to hear more than the Name of Jesus. 

For me, His Name means love, life, joy, strength, peace, comfort and provision and oh, so much more.

Another old and cherished hymn also speaks of the sweetness of Jesus' Name.

Take the name of Jesus with you,  

Child of sorrow and of woe; 

It will joy and comfort give you, 

Take it then where'er you go.

Precious name, oh how sweet! 

Hope of earth and joy of heav'n; 

Precious name, oh how sweet!

The Name of Jesus means so much to so many. 

Spend some time today thinking about what His Name means to you.  


Father, thank You so much for giving us Your Son. Thank You for giving Him a wonderful Name, so much better than every other Name. He is worthy of glory and honor and praise. Help us, Father, to remember the Name of our Savior. And, to speak of Him and His Name and His love to others. In the sweetest Name I know, the Name above all names, Jesus, my Savior and Lord, Amen.
