When someone says, "I've got your back," it can be a huge confidence boost. It gives us courage and boldness to do what needs to be done and relieves our anxieties over the situation.
The apostle Paul had some major confrontations and difficulties in his life. Do you know what he wanted most from his brothers and sisters in Christ?
He wanted to know they had his back. How could they show the did? By striving with him in prayer. Paul's request of his fellow believers was this:
I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf -Romans 15:30 ESV
When someone has your back and is praying for you, have you ever thought about what they're really doing? They're asking God to have your back. Pretty cool, huh? And, you know what? If you are one of His children, God says to you, "I've got your back." That's a promise you can hold on to because God is ALWAYS true to His Word. (See Hebrews 13:5, Isaiah 41:10&13).
Paul wanted his friends to have his back by asking God to have his back. He knew what the writer of Ecclesiastes knew...
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. -Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 ESV
We all do better when we know someone has our back. And, I want to let you know that I've got your back. I'm asking the Lord to bless you (yes, you reading right now); I'm asking Him to strengthen you and I'm asking Him to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory. And, I'm asking Him to have your back.
