The Message in our Footprints

[Daily Selah]

When my children were small, they had a hard time walking in snow deeper than a few inches. If we were going out into the yard to make a snowman, I'd tell them, "Walk in Mama's footprints." When they walked where I had walked, they were less likely to get stuck or to lose a boot in the snow.

Whether we're conscious of it or not, you and I are leaving footprints on the path of life for all who will come after us.

What message will our footprints leave behind for the next generation?

Will they find their way by following us, or will they wander, confused without direction or a light to guide their way?

We would do well if we followed in King David's footprints. Not only would we find the right way, but we would leave a path for those coming after us to follow that would steer them in the right way, too.

David said,

I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies. -Psalm 119:59

David's footprints lead straight to the Word of God. The message in his footprints is: look to God and His Word and you'll stay on the right path.

What message is in my footprints?
What message is in your footprints?

Father, thank You for Your Word and how You use it to teach us how to live and which way to go. Help us to follow You and Your ways so closely that those coming behind us and following in our footsteps will be led straight to You. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Daily Selahis a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.
