[Daily Selah]
My teenage boys will often ask the question, "You know what, Mom?" That's a strange question which is probably unique to the English language. Think for a moment how it is used. What my kids really mean is, "Mom, I want you to know something." It could be that they want to tell me something that happened at school, or something about a friend or, some random piece of trivia they heard or read somewhere.
God wants us to "know what", too.
Take a look with me at what He says through the pen of the apostle Paul in Ephesians 1.
Paul says, "You know what, fellow-believers? I'm praying for you, that you'll know what."
In verses 15-16, he says he's praying constantly for those who have faith in Christ. In the next verse, he says he prays that we will be given "spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him (Christ)", and that our eyes will be opened, then he goes on to the "know whats" he knows God wants us to know.
"...that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power..." (Eph 1:18-19)
No matter how long we've walked with the Lord, there are always more "know whats" that He wants us to learn.
You know what?
Father, thank You for Your Word and the "know whats" You have stored up there for us to learn. Open our eyes and give us understanding so we may "know what" is the hope of Your calling, "know what" Your riches in glory and our inheritance are, and "know what" kind of power You use on our behalf. Give us wisdom, I pray, so we will understand Your truth and live victoriously for Your glory . In Jesus' Name, Amen.
[Daily Selah] is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.
