A Walking Conversation

[Daily Selah]

Last night after supper, I asked my youngest son to go for a walk with me (and our crazy dog).

As we walked with the dog in the park, we were privileged to see a beautiful sunset over the lake. Sadly, the cell phone camera didn't do a very good job of capturing it.

The great thing about that walk was what the conversation we were able to have (after the dog got tired and stopped trying to take off with the leash and my arm every time something moved).  We enjoyed a walking conversation.

My son is less than 2 years away form his high school graduation, talked about his future, where he wants to go to college, how he wants to serve the Lord as a pastor and how he hopes to reach those goals.

Remember when God would go into the Garden of Eden in the cool of the day? To paraphrase, He said to Adam and Eve, "Come and walk with Me".

Why? For the same reason I invited my son to walk with me. God wanted to hear about their day and what they hoped to do tomorrow and  He wanted to spend time with them in a walking conversation.

God invites you and I to walk with Him, too. He wants us to know Him and to share our joys, our sorrows, our hopes and our dreams with Him. Yes, He knows already but He wants to hear it from you. He wants your heart to be focused on Him and to trust Him.

Micah the prophet knew what a walking conversation with the Lord was.

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? -Micah 5:8

Walking with the Lord has a lot more to do with Who we spend our time with than what we spend our time doing.

The Lord wants you and me to have a walking conversation with Him every day.

Father, thank You for your grace and mercy. I don't really understand why You want to spend time with me, but I'm so grateful You do. Thank You for loving me so much. Help me to be more aware of Your presence and to have a walking conversation with You every day. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Daily Selah] is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.
