Are you on the right path?

{Daily Selah}

Have you ever gone for a walk in the woods and suddenly realized you had taken a wrong turn? Its not a good feeling, is it?

David was a man who had faced many challenges and dangers in his life. He was also a man who had experienced the awful feeling of having taken a wrong turn.

David's experiences and consequences brought him to an all-important realization. He didn't always make the best choices and he didn't know it all.

But, David did know Who would always lead him in the right path and Who would always show him the best and right way, if David would just ask for His guidance and instruction.

Shew me thy ways O LORD; teach me thy paths (Psalm 25:4), David pleaded.

You and I have also had experiences and consequences that should have taught us that we don't consistently make the best choices and don't always follow the right path.

"Righteousness" is a word we sometimes have a tendency to over-spiritualize and make more complicated than it really is. Righteousness is, in simplest terms, the state of being right.

2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us that when we trusted in Christ as our Savior and Lord, His righteousness was imputed (credited) to us. A living (or, lived out) righteousness is developed over time, as we consistently choose to think, say and do what is right in God's eyes.

How do we know what is right? We don't. But, God does. Our prayer must be like that of David if we want to be right (righteous) in God's eyes.

Shew me thy ways O LORD; teach me thy paths (Psalm 25:4).

Are you on the right path?

Father, I ask that You would open our eyes, show us Your ways and show us Your paths. Make us righteous in Your sight, for Your glory, I pray. In Jesus' Name, amen.

{Daily Selah} is a mini-devotional, a pause to ponder about the Lord and how He wants us to live.
