Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 1:1).
Many people in the world today deny the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, ignore the existence of our loving Creator and question the validity of the scriptures.
There is a huge amount of archaeological evidence supporting the Biblical record, but most people simply are not aware of it. If you want to know more, you can "dig up" a lot of information by doing a simple internet search for archaeology and the Bible.
There was a great discovery made by investigators from Egypt’s Antiquities Ministry recently. It is very interesting that God chose to reveal this evidence to people who would normally deny the validity of the Word of God.
What they discovered is undeniable proof of the Biblical account of the demise of the Egyptians who chased the Israelites into the Red Sea (see Exodus 14). Hundreds of skeletons were found 1.5 kilometers off shore, along with remains of chariots, weapons, and pieces of armor. And, there are no shipwrecks or sunken boats of any kind anywhere near the site.
When Jesus rose from the grave, "...he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God..." (Acts 1:3).
You and I were not privileged to live when Jesus was here on the earth, to see those infallible proofs with our own eyes but God has given every person on the planet evidence that He is real.
Romans 1:20 says, "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse..."
God has revealed Himself through His creation, providing physical, substantial, and eternal proof of His existence and of His power and authority.
Literally hundreds of archaeological discoveries over the last century or so have provided more and more evidence of the accuracy of Biblical accounts. And, the evidence continues to pile up in favor of the truth of the scriptures.
But, do you want to know what provides the best proof of God's existence, His works and His ways and those of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ?
The evidence of a changed life is living proof.
Jesus spoke of this living proof, saying, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" (John 5:24).
Paul witnessed this living proof in his own life and in the lives of those who had heard and believed the message of the gospel God sent him to preach. Speaking to the believers in Colosse about what Jesus had done for them, he wrote, "And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight" (Colossians 1:20-22).
They were once alienated, but these people had been reconciled to God by the blood of Christ, Who imputed His righteousness to them. In the first few verses of Colossians 1, Paul praised these Colossian believers for their faith, love and fruit.
Has your life been changed by the grace of God and the blood of Christ? If it has, then you are proof that He is Who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do. And, the more we change and grow, the more living proof we become.
Changed life. Living proof.
Father, thank You for all the evidence You have shown us in creation and in Your Word, revealing to us that You are there and that You are the Creator Who loves His creation. Thank You for changing my life and making me a living testimony, living proof, of Your power, grace, mercy and love. Father, keep changing me and causing me to grow so that my life may present more and more living proof of who You are and Who your Son is, for Your glory. In Jesus' Name I pray, amen.
